brick wall self portrait
in this exercise, our assignment was to cut ourselves out of the picture on the left and make it look like we were standing in front of a brick wall(like on the right). we had to use a fill layer and make the background white, then add in the brick wall behind us. we also learned how to use mask layers, which still kind of confuses me. it was challenging to get rid of all the green around my hair, especially because it still has a green glow. i thought this exercise was interesting to learn about, but it was definitely hard to make it look not photoshopped.

landscape
on this picture we had to use the clone tool to remove all of the unwanted branches on the perimeter of the picture. i thought it was challenging, but i did fairly well on most of it until the end and i didnt take my time.

self portrait retouch entry
i thought learning about retouching was pretty cool. i didnt get to do much to my picture after i learned how to take red eye out because class was over, but i did change the contrast a little and brightened it some. i also tried to use the makeup touch up thing but it didnt make a difference in my picture. seeing the difference from changing the contrast and brightness was interesting. its cool to see how much depth or glow you can get from changing one simple thing. like i said i didnt change that much, so my before and after pictures dont look that different, it just slightly improved.

principles of design
balance ~ i think the color of the water and sky help even out and balance the colors of the trees.
proportion ~ to me, this picture seems fairly balanced in size. there is a lot of water, but the trees and huge mountains behind it help even it out and help it look more proportionate.
rhythm ~ this picture flows well because you can tell the water goes on for a while and the trees and mountains stretch across it.
emphasis ~ when i first look at this picture, i see the greenery. not only is it a huge part of the picture, but you can see its reflection in the water, which makes it pop more.
unity ~ there is a lot of unity in this picture because the water, trees, mountains, and sky stay consistent throughout the whole picture.
isabelle's flower
the reason i decided to crop the picture like this is because i wanted to show off the flower, along with the necklace. i cut off part of the flower because it makes my picture different from all the others and doesn't focus only on the flower.
i changed the colors to a little darker because i wanted to give the picture some depth and make some more contrast between the different shades of the pedals. i also like the way the necklace got a little darker to make it pop and stand out more.

video tutorials assignment
in the first video i learned how to open up photoshop and display a picture on it by opening up a document. then he showed me how to enter a text onto the picture and move it around, and last he showed me how to save the file.
in the second video, she showed me how to blur certain parts of a picture, change the color, and to navigate and zoom in on the picture.
the last video basically just told me what everything on the palate was, although it was a lot to absorb and remember all at once.
personally, i think the first video was easiest to follow because he showed every single step you have to do, and it wasnt too long. the second video wasnt bad either, it just showed how to do different stuff. the last video, i thought, was wayyyy too long. it got very boring because it was all facts and like a half hour long.
watching these videos kind of helped me learn about photoshop, but im not sure that i will remember everything that was shown and taught because i didnt actually have to do it myself.
